Food : Nasi Lemak @ Serai, Empire Shopping Gallery

In conjunction with an assignment I had to do on nasi lemak, a group of friends and I went on a hunt for some delicious nasi lemak. We came across some places with fairly good nasi lemak but we found one in particular that has amazing nasi lemak! This place we speak of is no other than Serai.

Serai has a mix of  Malay, Western & Fusion dishes on their menu. With that said, most people who visit Serai in groups will not find it hard to pick dishes that satisfy everyone. This restaurant is also one of its 5 outlets in Malaysia. The other outlets are located in Pavilion (KL) , Paradigm Mall (PJ) , Shaftsbury (Cyberjaya) and in Jaya Shopping Centre (PJ).

The ambiance of Serai is very chic and minimalistic. Its very cosy with optimum lighting and comfortable seating, a perfect place to catch up with a friend. I love how they have decorated this place by incorporating plants and each table has a small flower arrangement.

The aesthetic so beautiful!!

We were shown to our table by the friendly staff. Since we went at a non-peak hour, they gave us a place with lots of space to move around and take all the required shots for the assignment. A side note, Serai can get very crowded and loud during lunch and dinner times (I've had to wait for about 20 minutes to get a place during lunch hour in the past). So if you are planning to enjoy some quiet time, opt to go after lunch hour or before dinner time.

One thing I have to say about Serai is that all their staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They were very understanding that we were doing a project and were happy to help us.

Nasi Lemak had a generous portion.

We were very pleased as we flipped through the menu to see that nasi lemak was listed on the
'Serai Specialities'. We immediately ordered the Nasi Lemak (RM16). The food arrived fast!! Even though the price may seem a little bit steep for nasi lemak, you will not regret as it is quite a big portion and it is very very very delicious!

The chicken was tender and the coconut rice smelled (and tasted) amazing. The prawn sambal complimented the rice and anchovy well. The whole dish tied together so well, it made us almost order another round of it (haha!).

With good food and great service, Serai is definitely one place everyone should try! Other dishes I have tried in the past and will highly recommend include Nasi Kerabu (RM22) , Spicy Thai Rice (RM15) and Berry Pavlova (RM15).

Food : 9/10

My Overall Experience : 9/10

Price: 7/10

If you have a slightly larger budget, you definitely should give Serai a try. The ambiance, food and service makes this place a good place to chill and relax.
